Braces and Adult Orthodontics

The Center for Special Dentistry® (CSD) offers Cosmetic Fixed and Removable (e.g. Invisalign) Orthodontics for Adults within our multi-specialty cosmetic group.  We focus on adults because mature patients logically have a different set of orthodontic wants and needs than kids.  Orthodontic teeth movement is coordinated with all other dental specialties in one office before the start of treatment so patients will get the result they expect. 

It is usually healthier to treat crooked teeth with braces rather than with Cosmetic Dentistry (without braces) because Orthodontics actually corrects the problem.  The drawback to Orthodontics is the time involved, interim aesthetics and the inconvenience.  At CSD each orthodontic treatment plan is compared with many Cosmetic Dentistry options and patients are offered assistance in making an appropriate choice.

Another major benefit of Orthodontic treatment at CSD is the dramatic decrease in time necessary to complete many Orthodontic cases.  High volume Orthodontic practices will typically spend 10 minutes per patient per month while our Orthodontist may spend 60 minutes per patient every two, three or four weeks.  Cosmetic Dentists are also available to help speed the result.  Braces that might have taken two years elsewhere might be completed in less than one year at CSD.  For many adult patients the comfort, time-savings and aesthetic result are worth the higher cost.
